Three known problems in BC 2.2.8

Ok, so there’s three known problems that are reported with BC 2.2.8, just that you know:

[1] There can be black screens with a couple of mods integrating the API, such as Railcraft. This is really my bad, I’ve updated the API without thinking of the potential incompatiblities here. The workaround is to install 2.2.7 instead from http://www.mod-buildcraft.com/download/previous-releases/.

[2] The quarry doesn’t mine grass. This is a minor issue, but if it’s getting into your nerves, installing 2.2.7 works too.

[3] Grass doesn’t drop seeds. This is a Forge issue, I want to make some verification before releasing Forge 1.2.2 with the fix. Out soon!

* Edit * Go check out Forge 1.2.2 onĀ http://sourceforge.net/projects/minecraftforge/files/1.2.2/

  1. ..just wanted to add: Wheat doesn’t drop seeds either. Fixing this would be very convenient. Thanks in advance and big kudos for this awesome mod!

  2. Any engine’s don’t give power pipe’s power :{ and power pipe’s don’t connect to each ocher.

      • cfg?
i put down a combustion engine and i hooked up a wooden power pipe
i gave the engine oil and water wen i power it and powered it whet a lever

        • Conect you wooden pipe to any other pipe (except wooden) and that pipe to machine (or directly wooden to machine). Engine work’s if there is a consumer connected, not just pipe. Stone and coblestone pipes pre-programed to be non connectable to each other.

    • I’m having the same problem. Have them all hooked up exactly like it shows in the tutorial vids.

      • Currently gathering enough oil and water and lava to test various issues, figure out where the problem lies. I’ve only thus far used wooden engines, and they seem to be working just fine up to a point…I’m seeing a pulse in the wooden pipe attached to each one, but not the various golden ones.

Tests to try: Hooking up simplified (i.e., shorter) circuits
using multiple types of engine and multiple types of pipe
using multiple output devices…forges, crafting tables, etc
increasing power output (multiple engines at once)

I’ll start a thread in bug reports if everything still fails.

  3. cfg?
i put down a combustion engine and i gave the engine oil and water wen i hooked up a wooden power pipe and hooked up stone power pipe to the wooden pipe and a refinery the power stay’s in the wooden pipe

  4. Possible bug: Can’t use an empty bucket on tanks of lava any more with BC 3.0.4. This is the first time that I’ve had the problem.

    Love the mod.

  5. Issue [2] exists in 3.0.4 too. It refers to dirt blocks with grass on them not just grass. It also applies to the filler on clear mode.

  6. Spacetoad, you aren’t even including the 2.2.8 API in 2.2.8. API.getLiquidForFilledItem() doesn’t exist in the API included in the BC 2.2.8 package.

    • I know! Which makes me even more mad about the stupid change I made to the API. I was really trying to avoid this kind of clash and still got it. Oh well, try and learn…

This part is in the 3.x API, as will all other API changes for now on.

      • Well I just posted 2.2.8 compatible version of Railcraft, but I was unable to make it compatible with 3.0.4 at the same time.

  7. So should i be using 2.2.8 or 2.2.7. i downloaded 2.2.8 about 3 days ago so is it the best version to have or do i need to redownloaded for a hotfix?

    • Depends on what you want to do ;-) But if everything is working fine with you, don’t change anything…

  8. Im running 2.2.8 server and i keep getting a recv fail, the server is not running any other mods and is fairly powerfull, same with the client. Download Speeds are about 400KB per second. The world is very large, about 4gb, can this be the reason?
I has been working fine without any mods, since buildcraft is on there and i started building with it, it keeps failing.
