Forge conflicts

Edit: Forge versions 59+ have re-added the missing interfaces, so those are compatible again.

Forge updated to 1.4.1 (.58) and unexpectedly removed an interface required by BuildCraft in the process. That will cause BuildCraft to crash with the new “recommended” build of Forge.

We won’t be pushing a hotfix for that but continue on our normal release schedule. For now you will have to use the last working build 1.4.0.57 available here:

  1. I have just gotten the latest recommended Forge update (.59) and It seems to fix this issue. Though I’m currently in the process of updating my mods so haven’t extensively tested to see if the crash comes much later. But my worlds at least start up fine.

  2. Mods not using forge needs to be “fixed” for not using it and
mods using it can’t keep up with the forge dev..

ok so now tell me what the F. is going on with forge ? wasn’t it supposed to make mods compatibility better at some point ?

all it’s doing right now is making the use of mods in minecraft a pain in the B. !

( sorry for grammar blablabla ..not english )

  3. Oh… That explains a bit! Well, just a quick .jar flush and I’ll have my game working again!

  4. From forge 1.4.1.59
“Readded the deprecated interface ICustomItemRenderer. Added method to enforce deprecation cross Minecraft versions.”

I assume this was the interface also .59 is now a recommended build

  5. Hmm.. the latest version of forge was broken for all of 9 hours… the horror…

  6. Hmm.. the latest version of forge was broken for all of 9 hours… the horror…

The “recommended” version of forge was broken for 9 hours yes …and was supposed to be the tested version…

    wasn’t tested with buildcraft….at least…

    kinda sad

  7. Forge re-added the interfaces it removed in build 58 so hopefully everything should be working again. It wasn’t just buildcraft, other major mods was affected as well.

  8. Hi, my game and the (awesome :P ) mod work fine for me, except my character, animals and mobs are invisible. They spawn cause I here them and they hurt me but there are just invisible (which is pretty annoying as you can imagine…)
Any clue on what’s wrong? :s

  9. A simple regression bug. The developers of the forge just learnt that you never take out an interface without first deprecating the interface for a while. A must learn lesson for any api builder.

  10. To be fair, the Buildcraft API suffered the exact same problem on more than one occasion. Removed or changed code that broke dependent mods. Gave me no end of headaches trying to keep up, at several points I just gave up. =P

  11. sir or krapth, i need to talk with you about the server. is there anyway i can contact u guys?

  13. How do I download it? I open the link or try to save it and it gives me errors.

    • Yeah I’m using .61 b/c Railcraft requries it and it seems to work fine but I don’t no what it did in the first place (I never tried it).

  15. Hello everyone,
Let me start by saying to all developers who works on the Forge and producing some good old fun with Minecraft with mods like Buildcraft. :^)

I have been playing on V1.1 using buildcraft 2.2.12 for a while now and I thought it’s time to upgrade to 3.1.4 after giving enough time for modders to catch up with Notch’s latest updates of 1.2 and beyond, etc.

Tonight, I downloaded the latest versions of Modloader (for 1.2.4), ModloaderMP (1.2.4 v1), while using minecraftforge (client 2.0.0.67)… without installing any buildcraft mods. It seems to be working as normal, however when I start adding any buildcraft mods or other mods that uses forge; it trips and bombs out in a result of crash. :( Moo!

I began to research into the issue by using magic launcher 0.9.7, loaded in the three key mods; Modloader, ModloaderMP and Forge in the setup window. Magic reported two errors in the Forge 2.0.0.67. So, I started to test other mods that do not use Forge like OpiFine_1.2.4_HD and has no issues. I read that the crash could be caused by the magic launcher program, so I manually updated the .jar file to see if it was that problem; but sadly, it resulted the same crashing out problem. :( Double Moo!

I believe there’s something wrong with Forge (2.0.0.67) with the 2 errors that magic launcher picked up on. Using the latest Modloader, ModloaderMP, Forge and all buildcraft 3.1.4 mods, while using magic launcher to produce the crash list below:

Don’t know if this helps the development and fix any issues for forge. If you would like me to supply the files – you can get in touch to me by maddz01@hotmail.com. and I’ll be happy to supply the files that I am using.

Thank you and continue developing great work for the Minecraft world. :)

    Kind regards,
    Addz

  16. Oh I just noticed something on Magic launcher when loading Forge mod in the list.
The displays the two errors that I mentioned above… I had a look at the log section and it reports two errors:

Missing class member: public (Lxd;IIIIFI)V a, class: jx, mod: minecraftforge-client-2.0.0.67.zip

Missing class member: public (Lxd;IIIIFI)V a, class: rr, mod: minecraftforge-client-2.0.0.67.zip

I have no idea what it means but I thought I highlight this anyways and hope it helps the issues.

All the best to all mod developers!
    Addz

      • I pray to god that you are just playing around. How long until a recommended release of Forge will come out allowing Buildcraft to update because it relies on forge.

  17. Does anyone know for sure if Buildcraft is running on 1.2.4 ?

Trying it for days with MC 1.2.4, Modloader 1.2.4, ModloaderMP 1.2.4 and MCforge 2.0.0.67.
As long as I only put those “helpers” in minecraft.jar everything works fine. After copying buildcraftcore etc in /mods game crashes after mojang screen.
