I’ve asked him about that, pertaining to bronze compatibility for IC2. The answer is – it’s not in his control. What you need to do is ask Eloraam to make sure the ores in question are added to the Forge Ore Dictionary, then they will work as desired.
In the meantime, if you use IndustrialCraft, you can macerate them and smelt them – then the copper and tin ingots will be the same in RP, IC and Forestry.
I’d held off on industrial craft because it looked abit too big and game changing but it appears I have no choice, I’m no modder but I’d had the idea of changing the id’s of one set recipes to match the others ores but I wouldn’t know where to start

You don’t need to – Forge’s Ore Dictionary was designed for that purpose.
Want to make an IC2 recipe with RedPower Copper and Yin? Can Do.
Need to make a Sturdy Machine but only have IC2 Bronze? You’re good to go now.
I started out with just IndustrialCraft after my son recommended it – that got me back into Minecraft. I held out on BuildCraft for a while because I couldn’t see a use – then I watched Direwolf20′s videos and had to have it. As I expanded, RedPower became more useful… and now, Forestry completes the circle. I am now the master of my domain.
