when converting IC power to BC power is there a conversion rate? like 100 IC power equals 1BC power and vice versa? which ever the case, i’ve been wanting to get this converter since i have close to 250mill of energy stored i’d like to use for BC experiments |

That is determined entirely on your BC/IC2 conversion mod, it will probably be a config option. |

I just did some testing. 2 Engines with 2 refineries doesn’t work either.

to Krapht: where do you find the source code? I’m interested to find out the power needed for a quarry that runs on full speed. |

I’m just wondering if we can get some confirmed details about engine power production and machine usage, because things don’t seem to work according to the official manual as others have pointed out. So for example, what is the range of speeds that each engine “pumps”? (ie. how fast at blue, how fast at green, etc.) This would be useful to know, so that we can predict how many engines of what kinds we may need, instead of just building a bunch and not knowing how much energy is being wasted, especially when engines run hot. I’ve found in some cases a single redstone engine can provide enough power to a pump for my purposes, when it’s at yellow production, where the manual says I shouldn’t be able to use a redstone engine to power the pump at all, and in fact should need at least a steam engine to pump water at the rate I am. Also I am curious if there are plans to make power pipes smart using gates (or something similar), such that if you have a bank of Engines powering a network of quarries, pumps, and lasers, that engines can be made to turn on and off based on power demand and production. |

http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Engines_-_In_Depth I was curious as well. The numbers there are straight from the source code. There’s that page as well as an abridged version that just has all the numbers without all the text. |

Please correct me if I am wrong: For powering one refinery on the fastest speed with combustion engines that is running on fuel you need 2 combustion engines. For powering one refinery on the fastest speed with Combustion engines that is running on oil you need 4 combustion engines. But if you want to power one refinery on the fastest speed with lava, how many combustions engines that is running on lava will I need to get one refinery on its fastest speed? And is it efficent enough to use lava for the outcome of fuel or should I rather use oil in the combustion engines?
